Admission Procedure for BTech Programs
Basic Eligibility
Pass in Class 12 or equivalent examination with not less than 50% marks in aggregate in Physics, Mathematics & any one of the optional subjects - Chemistry / Biology / Biotechnology / Computer Science / Electronics / Information Technology and English as one of the languages of study, from a recognized Board.
For admission to Aeronautical / Mechanical / Civil Engineering, the subjects of Physics, Chemistry & Mathematics are considered as per AICTE guidelines.
Candidates appearing for Class 12 examination are eligible to apply for NUCAT.
Candidates may note that there will be no seat allotment through KCET or COMEDK.
Admission Criteria
General Category
Indian nationals who have passed Class 11 & 12 in India, fall under General category.
NITTE MERIT SCHOLARSHIPS
20% of the seats in each program / branch are set aside as Merit Scholarship seats under General category, for top ranked candidates in NUCAT 2026 with not less than 80% marks in aggregate, in the optional subjects of Physics, Chemistry & Mathematics in Class 12.
Tuition Fee Waiver Category
(Nitte Freeships)A few seats are earmarked for candidates who have passed Class 12 in India in 2026, with minimum 90% marks in aggregate in the optional subjects of Physics, Chemistry & Mathematics in the first attempt and NUCAT score of ≥ 65, having an annual family income of less than Rs.8 lakhs. Submission of Intimation under Section 143 (1) of the Income Tax Department, GoI of both parents for the Assessment Year 2025-26 is mandatory.
Inclusivity Category
Indian nationals who have studied for a period of SEVEN YEARS between Class 1 and 12 in India, but outside the State of Karnataka, and have secured not less than 70% marks in aggregate, in the optional subjects of Physics, Chemistry & Mathematics in Class 12 fall under Inclusivity category. Study Certificate/s issued by the Head of the educational institution/s should be submitted to support this.
NITTE MERIT SCHOLARSHIPS
Within the Inclusivity category, Twenty percent (20% - rounded off as appropriate) of the seats in each program / branch are set aside as Merit Scholarship seats, for top ranked candidates in NUCAT with not less than 80% marks in aggregate, in the optional subjects of Physics, Chemistry & Mathematics in Class 12.
Admission to BTech program under General, Inclusivity & Tuition Fee Waiver Categories is based on merit in NUCAT 2026.
The NUCAT 2026 Information Bulletin will be shared with candidates after successful completion of registration.
JEE Category
Two percent (2%) of the seats are reserved for Indian nationals who have passed Class 12 in India and have scored minimum 75 NTA score in JEE Main 2026.
NITTE MERIT SCHOLARSHIPS
JEE category candidates are eligible for Merit Scholarship seats, if they secure minimum 85 NTA score in JEE Main 2026 with not less than 80% marks in aggregate, in the optional subjects of Physics, Chemistry & Mathematics in Class 12. Ranking is based on JEE Main 2026 NTA score.
NRI Category
The following are eligible for direct admission under NRI category:

Candidates who are Foreign Nationals / PIOs / Overseas Citizens of India -
Candidates who have passed Class 11 or 12 outside India. -
Candidates who have passed Class 11 & 12 in India, but sponsored by parents / blood relatives having NRI status. Necessary documents should be produced in support of this claim.
Seats will be allotted on the basis of inter-se merit considering the marks secured in Physics, Chemistry & Mathematics in Class 12 or equivalent examination.
